Heat pumps and solar
Heat pumps and solar panels planned, including any planning permission needed.
SAP calculations
The energy calculations building control needs for new homes, conversions and some extensions.
Building regulations
Energy and ventilation requirements met in the drawings and specification.
Ventilation (MVHR)
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, which keeps air fresh in a well-insulated home.

Charger positions, wiring routes and smart controls planned with the rest of the design.

Before you start
What we need, and what sits outside our fee
- From you: the property address, a few photos, and any existing drawings, planning approvals or surveys you have. We arrange the measured survey with you.
- Not in our fee: council planning and building control fees, and specialist reports a council asks for, such as a tree survey or flood risk assessment, unless your fee proposal lists them.
- Your fee proposal sets out exactly what is included for your project before any work starts.
Common questions
Do I need planning permission for a heat pump or solar panels?
Often not: many installations are permitted development, within limits on size and position. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have more restrictions, so we check your house first.
When should I think about energy upgrades?
At the start of the design. Insulation, ventilation and heating are far cheaper to build in during an extension or renovation than to add later.
